Versus the spreadsheet

Your spreadsheet was never going to survive April.

Everyone starts with a sheet. It works right up until the month you're busy — and then it's three weeks behind and you're reconstructing it from your bank feed.

A spreadsheet
Sprig
You remember to open it. Usually you don't.
Four taps on your phone, standing at the till.
One column of numbers. No idea if it balances.
Real double-entry, written for you behind the scenes.
Receipts in a shoebox, faded by April.
Photographed, read, and attached to the entry.
Mileage guessed at year end.
Logged per trip and priced automatically.
A weekend of formulas before you file.
One file, already totalled by tax head.
How it works

Three taps and an amount. That's the whole ritual.

01
Pick the wallet
Chase, cash, the Amex — tap the one the money moved through. Sprig remembers your last choice.
02
Expense, income or transfer
One tap. The category tiles you actually use sit on the first screen; add your own any time.
03
Key the amount, save
That's the entry. Your budget ring, your reports and both sides of the ledger update as you lift your thumb.
Nothing to set up first.

What it does

Built for the parts you'd otherwise put off.

Receipts

Snap it. Sprig reads it back.

Point your camera at the paper. Shop, date, total and the line items come back filled in — you just confirm.

Working for yourself

Tax time should be an afternoon, not a weekend.

If you invoice, drive, or work from a spare room, the deductions are already in your books — Sprig just has to add them up. It does, all year, quietly.

Mileage, priced as you drive
Log the trip; Sprig values it at $0.70 a mile and files it under vehicle costs.
Deductibles totalled by head
Equipment, home office, vehicle, utilities — each with its receipts attached.
Invoices that chase themselves
Send it, mark it paid, and it lands in the books as income on the right date.
One file for your accountant
CSV, PDF or print. Every row of the year, receipts included, in a single hand-off.
Security & privacy

Your books are yours. We mean that literally.

No ads, no data brokers, no selling your spending to anyone.
On your device first
Every entry is written locally and works offline. Sync is opt-in, and you can turn it off without losing a thing.
Read-only bank access
If you connect a bank, Sprig can only read transactions. It can never move money — the permission simply isn't requested.
Export and walk away
One tap gives you the whole ledger as CSV. No lock-in, no export fee, no hostage-taking.

Questions

The things people ask first.

No. You tap an amount and pick a category; Sprig writes both sides of the entry. If you do know the difference, the ledger is there in full and every entry shows its pair.
It can, but nothing needs it. Bank access is read-only — Sprig can never move money, because it never asks for permission to. Plenty of people run it on manual entry alone.
One tap exports the whole ledger as CSV, receipts included. Your books were written on your device in the first place, so there is nothing to prise loose.
That is what the export is designed for: every row of the year, totalled by tax head, with the receipts attached. Most accountants ask for exactly this and give up asking for more.
Yes — personal and business side by side, each with its own categories, wallets and reports. Switching between them is one tap and nothing bleeds across.
Entirely. Entries are written locally the moment you save, so a basement with no signal is no obstacle. Sync catches up whenever you have a connection.

Start tonight's
entry in four taps.

Free to start, no bank connection needed, and your first entry takes about a minute.
