Sprig Terms & Conditions
1. Who we are and what this agreement covers
Sprig is developed and published by Secundum Reality ("we", "us", "our"), Islamabad, Pakistan. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Secundum Reality that governs your download, installation and use of the Sprig Android app and any updates to it ("Sprig" or "the app"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use Sprig. Where you use Sprig on behalf of a business, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms for that business.
Sprig is distributed through Google Play. Your use of Google Play, and any purchase made through it, is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service.
2. Your licence to use Sprig
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use Sprig on Android devices that you own or control, for your own personal or internal business bookkeeping. Sprig is licensed, not sold, to you. We and our licensors keep all rights not expressly granted here.
You may not, and may not allow anyone else to:
- copy, modify, translate, adapt or create derivative works of the app;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble or otherwise try to obtain the app's source code, except where the law expressly permits it despite this restriction;
- sell, rent, lease, sub-license, distribute or otherwise make the app available to third parties;
- remove or alter any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notice in the app;
- circumvent the free-plan entry limit, the Premium unlock, the rewarded-ad flow or any other technical restriction in the app;
- use the app in any way that breaks applicable law, or use it to keep records of unlawful activity.
3. Eligibility
Sprig is a financial record-keeping tool intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, and legally able to enter into a contract to use Sprig and to buy the Premium subscription. Sprig is not directed at children under 13.
4. Your books, your device, your responsibility
Sprig works offline and stores everything you enter (entries, wallets, budgets, invoices, mileage, receipt photos and settings) only in the app's private storage on your device, encrypted as described in the Privacy Policy. There is no account, no sign-in, no server and no cloud sync. This has some important consequences that you accept by using Sprig:
- We cannot access, recover or restore your data. If your device is lost, damaged, reset or the app is uninstalled, your books are gone unless you have a backup.
- Backups are up to you. The app lets you create a passphrase-encrypted backup file and export your entries as CSV. You decide where those files are stored, and you are responsible for keeping them and your passphrase safe. We cannot recover a forgotten backup passphrase.
- You own your content. Everything you type into Sprig remains yours. We claim no rights over it and never receive a copy.
- Accuracy is your job. Sprig records what you enter. You are responsible for entering amounts, dates and categories correctly and for reviewing the figures before you rely on them.
5. Free plan and rewarded ads
Sprig can be used free of charge with a limited number of entries. On the free plan you may choose to tap "Watch an ad" to earn additional entries. A rewarded ad is requested from Google AdMob only at that moment, and never in the background. Ads are supplied by Google and its advertising partners; we do not control their content and are not responsible for the products or services they promote. We may change the entry limit, the number of entries earned per ad or the availability of rewarded ads at any time.
6. Sprig Premium subscription
Sprig Premium unlocks the app without entry limits or ads. It is an auto-renewing yearly subscription sold through Google Play.
- Price. The price, currency and renewal period are shown in the app and on Google Play before you confirm the purchase. Prices may include applicable taxes and may differ by country.
- Billing and renewal. Your Google Play account is charged when you confirm the purchase, and the subscription renews automatically at the end of each yearly period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in Google Play › Payments & subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; Premium remains active until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Refunds. Purchases are processed by Google, and refunds are handled under Google Play's refund policy. We do not process payments and never see your card or bank details.
- Restoring. If you reinstall Sprig or change device, you can restore an active Premium subscription with the same Google account. Restoring the subscription does not restore your bookkeeping data; only your own backup can do that (see section 4).
- Price changes. If we change the Premium price, Google Play will notify you before the change applies to your next renewal, and you may cancel before then.
7. Not financial, tax, accounting or legal advice
Sprig is a record-keeping tool. Budget figures, "safe to spend" estimates, tax summaries, mileage valuations, category totals and any other calculations are produced from the numbers you enter and are provided for your convenience only. They are not financial, tax, accounting or legal advice, do not take your personal circumstances into account and may not reflect the rules that apply where you live. Always check figures with a qualified accountant or adviser before relying on them, especially for tax filings. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on information shown in the app.
Sprig is not a bank, payment service or financial institution. It does not hold, move or have access to money.
8. Intellectual property
Sprig, including its software, design, graphics, text, logos and the Sprig name and leaf mark, is owned by Secundum Reality or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership to you. Third-party components used in the app remain the property of their respective owners and may be subject to their own licence terms, which are listed in the app where required.
9. Third-party services
Sprig relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own terms and privacy policy:
| Service | Purpose | Terms |
|---|---|---|
| Google Play and Google Play Billing | Distributing the app and selling, renewing and refunding the Premium subscription. | Google Play Terms of Service |
| Google AdMob | Serving a rewarded ad when you choose to watch one on the free plan. | Google advertising policies |
| Android system services | Biometric / device-credential app lock, camera and photo picker intents, and the share sheet used for exports and backups. | Your device manufacturer's and Google's terms |
We are not responsible for the availability, content or conduct of third-party services, or for any app, cloud drive or messaging service you choose to send your exports and backups to.
10. Updates, changes and availability
We may release updates that add, change or remove features, fix bugs or improve security, and some updates may be required for the app to keep working. We may also change or discontinue the free plan, the rewarded-ad flow or Sprig itself. Because your data is stored only on your device, discontinuing the app would not delete your books, but new downloads, updates and Premium renewals could stop. If we discontinue Sprig while your Premium subscription is active, you may be entitled to a pro-rata refund through Google Play.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sprig is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, that calculations will be correct for your situation, that defects will be corrected, or that the app will be compatible with every device or Android version. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Secundum Reality and its owners, employees and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, loss of profits, loss of business, tax penalties, interest, fines or costs of professional advice, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use Sprig, even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages. This includes loss of your bookkeeping data through device failure, uninstalling the app, a forgotten backup passphrase or any other cause.
Our total liability to you for all claims relating to Sprig will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Premium subscription in the twelve months before the claim arose or USD 20. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or the statutory rights you have as a consumer.
13. Your responsibility to us
You agree to compensate us for losses, costs and reasonable legal fees that result from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of Sprig, or your violation of any law or third-party right while using the app.
14. Termination
You may stop using Sprig at any time by uninstalling it; cancel any Premium subscription in Google Play first if you do not want it to renew. We may suspend or end your licence if you materially breach these Terms. On termination, your licence ends and you must stop using and delete the app. Sections 4, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13 and 15 survive termination. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes the data stored in it, as described in the Privacy Policy.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the courts of Islamabad have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of the country where you live, including the right to bring proceedings in your local courts. Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us at the address below so we can try to resolve the matter informally.
16. General
- These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about Sprig.
- If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of that right.
- You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to a successor of our business.
- Nothing in these Terms creates any rights for Google or any other third party, except that Google is a third-party beneficiary of the licence restrictions in section 2 with respect to distribution through Google Play.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the app or the law changes. The effective date at the top will change, and material changes will be noted in the app's Google Play release notes. Continued use of Sprig after an update means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the app and cancel any Premium subscription.
